Guys only please. Would you be willing to go to a nail salon to get manicures or pedicures if......?

It was catered primarily just for men. So for example you would have hot girls in skimpy outfits give you the manicure. I mean we all like hot girls right? But what about hot girls mixed with something primarily feminine like a manicure????

If you would not mind, how much would you be willing to pay for a hot babe feeling up your hand or feet and making them look sharp? ;-)Guys only please. Would you be willing to go to a nail salon to get manicures or pedicures if......?

I wouldn't. I like ';hot babes'; just fine, but I have to trim my nails a very specific way to play the guitar, so I have to do it myself anyway. I don't think I could train anybody to do it, and I'm rather fond of just clipping my nails instead - I'm not showing off my toes after all.

Where are inexpensive nail salons in gilbert, az with $10 pedicures?

martinee nails!

I enjoy getting pedicures, where can I purchase the blue peppermint foot salts they use in the salons?

blue peppermint foot soakI enjoy getting pedicures, where can I purchase the blue peppermint foot salts they use in the salons?
You can try the Body Shop. They are really good with pamper things like this..........................I enjoy getting pedicures, where can I purchase the blue peppermint foot salts they use in the salons?
I bought this mineral bath stuff at walmart for like 5 bucks. It's called Batherapy Sport natural mineral bath. I know it is a bath for your whole body but I swear it's the same stuff they use when they give you pedicures.

Either that or go to a beauty supply store, I am sure thats where they themselves buy it.
the body shop has some awesome peppermint foot soak, it is like big pieces of salt. works well and smells yummy!
www.yahoo.com/search
try your local beauty supply store.
The body shop would definately. Try department stores and beauty discount shops.
Try The Sally Store.
Bed, Bath, and Body. They have it and they have other things you can also try. Like a foot mask. It leaves your feet smelling good and soft after. To go to one place and browse around, Go to the mall. Every ';beauty'; store has it, but they have it in different sizes and prices so shop around.

  • Do you give yourself pedicures or have them done at a salon?

I just gave myself a pedicure and polished my toes so I can wear sandals. I love soaking my feet in a foot spa! Most of the time, I do them myself but sometimes I go have them done at a salon.Do you give yourself pedicures or have them done at a salon?
Same here, if I have the extra cash I like to go to the salon. I found this lady that gives me a fill on my nails and a pedicure for 30 dollars and she is the best! that is the cheapest I have ever seen and her shop is so clean. 20 years experience. 鈾Do you give yourself pedicures or have them done at a salon?
    I do my own pedicures......
I like to get them done at the salon. I love to sit in the massage chair and let them do it for me. They always look better than when I do it.
I see a podiatrist who does mine when I get my feet examined .
don't have time or skill for a home pedi and no money for salon.
Both, I go to the salon to get them done but I do the up keep myself at home.
I give myself pedicures. But I don't have any fancy footbaths or anything...I just use the sink or bathtub with some spa soap stuff. I've only had a pedicure once, no manicures, no nothing except a few haircuts. I can't afford to do that all the time...
I do all my own home grooming.

Which may explain why my toes look the way they do?

    (Shoves feet into slippers)
i dont do it myself b/c im like no good at that kind of stuff so i have to go to a salon. It cost money but its worth it. :)
I also do both. It's relaxing to have someone else do it for you.
I do them myself,.....I Have had those Workers in a Salon to Hurt My Toes so bad I could hardly walk when finished. So, I Learned a Lesson. Especially, with an In-grown Toe nail. Huh?
i do those myself because I hate having my feet touched. But a manicure i love
    happy happy
I do mine also. I have never had mine done at a salon.

I could if I wanted to, but I just like doing it myself.

Hey, who know maybe I would really enjoy having someone else do it for me. Might try it some day.

Yes, I like that polished look too! Its nice to look down at my feet and she polished toe nails.

If you live in los angeles county than you probably already know that the Alhambra and Monterey Park are the Nail Salon capitals of the world. From Garfield go east on Valley a few blocks, the same thing on Garvey east from Garfield, youll see a lot of nail salons on the street and more in the strip malls.Keep looking untill you see one you feel excitited about. Then PICK A COLOR.

i know ur question say guys onky but i think it is perfectly okay for guys to get mai's and pedi's

they feel so greet and relieve stress

even if the salon isnt the HOOTERS of a nail salon i think guys shoukld go

they have no idea what they are missingGuys only please. Would you be willing to go to a nail salon to get manicures or pedicures if......?
yeah, but i never have. it seens like a good idea, but i never have done it. it is hard for a guy to walk into a hail place for the first time
I wouldn't partake. Beautiful women are everywhere, and if you're a social guy, you don't need to pay for their attention.
if the girls r hot i would pay anything
I'm a guy, thanks. My hands SHOULD be rough. Paying a ';hot'; girl to do my nails, not my thing. I have a girlfriend to dress sexy for me, and if I want my nails done, she will be happy to dress sexy and help with that. So, I'd pay ZERO dollars to have a hot chick dress in a skimpy outfit and play with my hands.
i personally don't really like other people cutting my nails...i don't really think that idea would work much, or for me at least. hot girls in skimpy outfits serving food is the best, can't really beat that.
Well, I would pay whatever they are charging..lol and maybe a tip, but i wouldnt mind at all. Personally My gf does my eyebrows to her likings and i get my haircut how she likes it. I mean i like it too but just to make her happy i let her choose.

Do most salons do pedicures/manicures barehanded/without gloves on?

Is it usually better without gloves though?

Should the massage parts be without gloves?

Does it feel better without gloves?

Should the foot massage part be without gloves?

Does the foot massage feel better without gloves?

Do you feel offended or different when gloves are worn by the nail tech?Do most salons do pedicures/manicures barehanded/without gloves on?
No they dont use gloves. Maybe if you have fungus on your feet (im not being rude, there are really antifungal treatments) then they will. but they apply lots of cream and massage it into the legs and arms so no you cant do that with gloves.

OBviously massages feel better without gloves! it isnt necessary for the esethcian to wear gloves there is no fear of them contracting something unless they have an open wound (which they cover if they do) plus to do cuticles and paint nails its very precise so they need their hands.Do most salons do pedicures/manicures barehanded/without gloves on?
They don't wear gloves because they are supposed to keep clean hands. Ofcourse massages feel better without gloves, some people do wear gloves though during a mani-pedi because the chemicals.
gloves are usually not worn. The only time they might wear gloves is if they have a cut or something on their hand. Feels a little better without gloves but not that different.
Depends on the person giving you the pedicure or manicure. Some people just dont want human contact of any kind so they wear gloves. Also prevents contracting diseases.

Have you ever gone into or left a nail salon barefoot?or after a pedicure?

Yes to both. I see no need to wear shoes there, and I would absolutely refuse to wear those nasty ugly ones they give you.Have you ever gone into or left a nail salon barefoot?or after a pedicure?
I know about a nail product that dries in 5 minutes so you don't have to leave the salon barefoot or with those ugly flip flops just after 5 minutes you will be able to put your shoes on without damaging your toes it is amazing is called ';Dazzle Dry';Have you ever gone into or left a nail salon barefoot?or after a pedicure?
I have never been to one.
    No, I wear flip flops.

Do you go to the salon for pedicures and manicures?

Once in a while 2x a year maybe. Never had acrylic though. When it's sandal wearing season I'll get a pedicure though I'm always afraid they will give me some kind of fungus.Do you go to the salon for pedicures and manicures?

  • Pedicure in nail salons?

Is it healthy to get pedicure done at nail salons. I have heard pros and cons. What is your opinion?Pedicure in nail salons?
The nail salon that I frequent provides new tools (in an unopened package) for every customer. It depends on which salon. I've also walked out of some grimy ones!Pedicure in nail salons?
Just look around and see if everything looks clean and if they are sanitizing their tools and tubs when they are done with people. Don't forget to check for their licenses! Very important!
I always get mine done at a nail salon - I go to a busy place that has a good rating by our ';town'; and think it's clean.

I have paid big bucks for one at a spa and my pedicure here lasts longer. Go for it.
Where else would you go? I got one last week and it was wonderful. I think you can tell about the cleanliness of a place before you even sit down. You might have to do a little searching and find out where your friends or family go. I think there are a lot of nice salons out there. I definitely couldn't do a better at-home job!
i think its good if you go and look around and it seems clean - i have had no problems
    bring your own tools.
IT HONESTLY DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU GO. I KNOW OF PLACES WHERE YOU HAVE TO BRING YOUR OWN BAG OF MATERIALS (FILES AND PUMUS STONES) THOSE PLACES ARE ALWAYS CLEAN. ALSO.. PLACES THAT CLEAN THE TUBS AFTER EVERY VISIT. ... HOW ABOUT THIS... THE MORE MONEY YOU SPEND THE HIGHER THE SERVICES SO LESS CHANCES OF YOU CATCHING ANTYHING GROSS. HOPE THIS HELPS.
id check it out first, always go with ur first impressions, if they dont clean the pools well enought u could contract a virus on ur legs and feet! also check and make sure they use gloves with they work with u and other customers. if the place looks dirty, i wouldnt trust it. it also might be a good idea to see if they use disinfecting spray after they are done with each person
it truly depends on where you live....i honestly would NEVER goto a vietnemese salon for ANYTHING because they have been known to use improper implements and you NEVER see them sanitize anything...so if i were you i would shop around and find the cleaniest place...just go and sit in the shop and watch what they do...if they meet your standards then that would be the place you should take your business...but that's just me
IMHO One word sums it up....EEEWWW.

My husband likes to get pedicures...i mean he really loves going to the salon for this. Should i be worried?

There is more. He likes me to s1rap on. he said he has a feminine side. However, on the surface he is very manly and loves women. I am just wondering if maybe he has some underlying femininity?

What do you think? My husband likes to get pedicures...i mean he really loves going to the salon for this. Should i be worried?
hey! this is very normal! my fiance gets manicure and pedicures with me- some men who are very confident in their sexuality and are not afraid of 'gay behavior' because they're so confident in the manliness like to get pampered! i mean, who doesnt? the only men who don;t are men who are afraid of it. instead of judging him, explore it with him- go get manis %26amp; pedis together, get massages, etc. its really really fun!My husband likes to get pedicures...i mean he really loves going to the salon for this. Should i be worried?
People on this forum seem to associate Anal Sex with being Gay. Like they have a lot of choices in sex. So the prostrate is very sensitive and a lot like the female G-Spot. Stimulating it will give you the most intense O that you can imagine. That doesn't make people gay in my mind. Just cus they like great sex. If you haven't done it you don't know and you will say it is gay. He does have a feminine side and likes to be dominated. Does not mean he is gay. What matters is how you feel about it. If you are comfortable with this you could have a lot of fun. Most women that try this feel a great sense of empowerment and even though it feels awkward at first really learn to like it and want it for themselves. Dress him up and have him clean house for you. Have him wait on you and punish him if he doesn't do it the way you like.
He is probably bi-sexual. I have a lot of gay friends who have on going sex relationships with bi-sexual married men whose wives and children have no idea what daddy/hubby does when he gets the chance to. You need to ask yourself whether you want to be with a bi-sexual man. Also, is he willing to commit to you or does he get sex on the side from men? Don't blind yourself to the signs; get to the bottom of what is going on with him! All the best,
Yes, he does have some undelying something. And it sounds like you love thim and will go along.

That is all it is...he is a man...and he loves women in general and you in particular. But his way of making love sometimes is different. Nothing more.

You've heard of dominants and submissives and all types. Well his type is one who likes feeling a bit girly. No big deal Just the way he is.

So take it and use it to make him happy and make him bond closer to you. So give him a big night. Ship the kids off. Maybe you have him take a bath and do his nails...maybe even girlly him up a bit. And you could dress a bit many. And then enjoy the role switch. It can be fun for you...he'll be happy as can be...and the next day you two go back to your real life but with a smile from a good lnight of fantasy loving.

    BC
    I hate ';lure'; questions...

You begin with something fairly innocent: Pedicures, which aren't gay, per se; but then you smack us in the face, figuratively, with the str@p on...

I'm never one to judge, but I think a lot of people believe the kinsey scale is a valid expression of human sexuality (regardless that the scale was determined from male imprisoned criminals) and he might be on the ';I like it in the rear'; part of that scale...

    Good luck, bi the way!
lol its up to you, if you're comfortable with it then it's fine. Just because he does stuff like this doesn't mean he's gay, it could, but it probably doesn't. I think it's fine, you can probably see past that anyway, because you love him and stuff. :)
Theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. Alot of men have some femininity in them. It doesnt mean he's gay. If he wants you to **** him in the *** with strap on then he has some gay in him for real.
HAHA!!! No offense but thats GAY! Peds are suppose to be for Girls ONLY....So ya you should be worried...he sounds Bisexual...
I think he likes the shlongs if ya know what i mean
I think as long as you two can keep communicating so well things will be fine.
If he has a feminine side, he's bi.
    worry
well if your willing to strap one on and give it to him then you should see if he'd be interested in the real deal.
    He has a gay side
    maybe he swings both ways
    Kiss her...um him goodbye....

right now there isn't a place to do it. only virgina is currently the only state to do this. you can though do it yourself by getting the chinese algae fish at your local fish petmart. i saw today on mike and juliet that it actually works. Are there salons in Texas that off the ';Doctor Fish'; Pedicure?
the Chinese algae eaters are not the doctor fish. It is the Garra rufa fish the asker mentioned that do it. The other will just clean your aquarium.

I just saw that on the news yesterday. I say probably not now but give it a little more time. I would call the spa's that offer the whole works and ask them.

About how much is it to do (1)acrylic nails (2)pedicure in the mall salons?

Alot depemds on where you are going. I have paid anywhere from 20 dollars to 45 dollars for acrylic nails. I pay more when I am at home in Northern Virginia and less when I am at school in West Virginia. The most Ive ever paid for a pedicure was 30 dollars. Hoever if you are going to a top name salon like Elizabeth Arden Red Door or The Ritz Carlton you may pay twice that amount. Call and inquire about their prices and ask around. You don't want to pay alot for a bad set of nails!About how much is it to do (1)acrylic nails (2)pedicure in the mall salons?

  • Ladies, now that it is getting colder do you still get pedicures at a salon or do you do them at home?

At home. What's the point if barley anyone gets to see them?

I guess getting them once in a while during winter wouldn't be so bad though... just to keep them healthy and keeping them preserved for the next summer ;DLadies, now that it is getting colder do you still get pedicures at a salon or do you do them at home?
I agree that at home during the winter is a good choice. You will save a lot of money that way. If no one is seeing them there is no point in spending that money. I think doing it once every couple of months is a good choice just to keep them soft looking. Or you can by a home pedicure kit for cheap that comes with all the things you need to smooth the skin and push back the cuticles.

I need a salon for pedicures that specializes is working on folks with diabetes.?

The Northwest part of town would be great but I would be willing to drive, say, 10-15 miles for a good one. ThanksI need a salon for pedicures that specializes is working on folks with diabetes.?
I have no idea where you live...but couldn't help you with your answer anyway. I don't know of any salon that specializes in diabetic pedicures...it doesn't exist. The liability would be too high because of the problems diabetics have with their feet. To imply that they specialize would set them up for lawsuits when some little scratch caused an infection and ultimately amputation or death from infection. A podiatrist, medical doctor, is the only option when it comes to specializing. They can clip and file your toenails but I don't think you'll get a nice foot massage or polish. ;)

If you don't have neuropathy or any signs of circulation problems and have spoken to your doctor, you can go to a reputable salon. Take your own clean implements and don't let them use things like callus removers or anything that might cause irritation or cuts, just to be on the safe side.I need a salon for pedicures that specializes is working on folks with diabetes.?
HUMMMMM. I thought that only Podiatrist were specialist in Diabetic foot care? Maybe not. But I'd make sure they approved before I went or call and ask them to tell you if they reccomend someone. Good luck.
I would go with a more high end salon not one of these cheap walk in places. I would avoid them if I wasn't a diabetic. As long as your feet are in great health free of any problems you should be okay and make sure you let them know you are diabetic. If thats all you are looking for is just a pedicure that should be okay. I am a type 1 diabetic and have had no problems witth me feet I take great care of them and from time to time get a pedicue at a local high end day spa in my area. It runs about 40.00.

Girls who have been to the salon: What is the procedure to get a manicure/pedicure?

I want to go to a salon, but I am afraid I will look like an idiot if I don' t know exeactly what to do. Do they operate the machines for you?(Like I say people drying thier hands.) Also do they tell you every step or like they are like go over there. Do the people there try to have a conversation with you? How long does a average manicure take? A pedicure? How much money does it cost to have a solid color for a manicure? For a pedicure? How much is a design? Do the prices vary, like how the design looks like or what toe it is on, or what nail it is on? Please take some time to answer this question. This is a really important issue.

-DesperateGirls who have been to the salon: What is the procedure to get a manicure/pedicure?
It all varies depending on where you go. It usually will take an hour, maybe an hour and a half for either one. Some of the people will talk to you and others wont. They feed off of you. If you wanna talk, they will talk!. If you have not been into their shop, they will usually tell you where to go and what to do. Everyone has a first time. The pricing always depends on where you go. Call over the phone to a few places and just ask, that way you don't have to walk in and panic if it's too expensive for you! Designs are extra, usually $3-$5 extra per design, depending on how extravagant it is. Just ask the people there if you are unsure about where to place the design. Usually for the feet, its on the big toe. The hand is a little different, more personal preference than anything. Take a friend along with you to be less nervous! Good luck, it's so relaxing you'll be going back all the time after the first!Girls who have been to the salon: What is the procedure to get a manicure/pedicure?
    i was nervous

    pedi

they put your feet in warm water

and then take off any polish and they

put lotion on and they scrub bottom of feet

    it tickles

    then they might poish it

but you should shave legs before you go

they might ';beat'; your shins etc but for a good thing

    mani

    they take off polish

    then they file your nails

    clip hangnails

    fix cuticuls

    buff them

    and polish them

for all the times i've gone

    it's been at most

    like 50 for a mani/pedi

    but it varies EVERYWHERE

When you go to a nail salon, do you get both a manicure and pedicure in a visit or just one service in all?

Usually when I ask to get a manicure, and the nail technician would ask if I would like a pedicure also. I usually come in intending to get one or the other, but are talked into getting both services.

Since it's winter time, I don't know which service to get or none at all because its so cold. I would probaly be all bundled up in boots and all. Not a good idea to be all bundled up in boots coming into a salon and walking out into the cold in flip flops/sandals. Which it better? Do a lot of people usually get their nails done in the winter? I don't know, walk out with freezing pretty hands or freezing pretty feet in flip flops out the salon. When you go to a nail salon, do you get both a manicure and pedicure in a visit or just one service in all?
I just got both done last night and I walked out in fuzzy boots. You just have to sit with those weird lights on your nails for a while. But unless you have a really good reason, it's kinda stupid to get your toes done in the winter because no one sees 'em anyways! When you go to a nail salon, do you get both a manicure and pedicure in a visit or just one service in all?
:) personally I believe that a girl needs to look nice no matter the season and nice hands and feet are in the top list of a woman's must do. Most nail salons have fans to dry your nails so you could just dry them there and then put on your boots after making sure they are dry, I would also recommend not putting on a dark nail color, maybe something natural or just clear and have your pedicure done to have nice and soft feet. :)
If I was going to the mall I would be ok with getting both and let my feet dry while I shopped, although I guess Id have to bring a large purse to put my boots into while the nails were drying. If I was going to walk outside into a dangerous situation where the flip flops could make me fall, I would not have my feet done. OR get the pedicure first. Take a break look at a magazine, and then have a long slow manacure and put the boots back on mght work too.
Pedicures can be dangerous if your salon isn't clean. WOmen get all kinds of horrible infections because they don't clean the foot baths as often as they should and don't clean the filters.

I skip pedicures all together... They are just not safe.
    it depends on the salon

my bet is with the economy the way it is, they'll be happy to accommodate you with anything you want.
It's cheaper when you do it at the same time. I haven't been getting pedicures simply because no one can see my feet in this weather. Of course I get my nails done in winter, I still have to maintain the sexy!
get both done - women typically go slack on the pedicures during the winter - big no- no. By spring time neglected feet will be a disaster. I go every two weeks for both - it's religion for me!

Salon/spa employees...I have a tip question. I had a pedicure done today at the place I ususally go. They?

Do a really great job, it is about an hour long, and it costs $20.00. I paid $20 and tipped her $5 in cash, thinking I was being generous. She was gracious, but later when she thought I couldn't hear her she grumbled and scoffed to the other workers about how she ';only'; got $5.

Again, I thought I was being generous with a 25% tip (thinking 15% is normal). Was I off the mark?

    I blushed and left quickly.

Thanks!Salon/spa employees...I have a tip question. I had a pedicure done today at the place I ususally go. They?
tips are one of those tricky subjects.. I think you gave her a fair amount, and she's just ungrateful.. in theory you didn't have to tip her at all (she gets paid a wage and should be happy to get any tip at all, especially seeing as she's so ungrateful for those that she does get lol) if I were you I would continue to go there and not tip her at all anymore!! Then perhaps she'll appreciate the next $5 tip she gets :P (or go there and have someone else do your nails, then tip them twice as much! lol I'm so mean sometimes, but that's so rude!! Even to say it without you hearing it, she doesn't deserve your tips with an attitude like that)Salon/spa employees...I have a tip question. I had a pedicure done today at the place I ususally go. They?
i think you did right, that's what I tip too but my pedicure never last no hour..they are always so busy. next time if you get her again in fact ask for her and when shes done..hand her a piece of paper that says TIP and inside write ..my tip to you today is don't complain to coworkers in front of customers about a $5.00 tip. Then you might have actually got one today. Sincerely, Karma..:)
No, 5 dollars is fine! People usually want more and it's supposed to be 15% anyway.I work in a beauy salon i usually get 15% or 5 dollars when people feel generous.Don't worry people can sometimes want more you know they are never satisfied!!
After I give a nice deluxe pedicure to my customers, I still get paid $5 tip at the most. It's a very nice tip, cuz people usually don't tip at all, or just leave a dollar or two.

You should have gone back and asked her what the hell she meant by ''only 5 bucks''.

Stand up for yourself, don't be apushover.
wow, i think that's messed up! i would never go back there again. and to be honest...if i heard somebody say that when they thought i couldn't hear them...i would simply walk to the person who did my nails and just grab the cash out of her hand.

  • Attention El Pasoans: Is there a salon/spa here that does NOT use jets for pedicures?

I had one bad experience with those jets at a not-so-clean spa, and I will only go to ones that use a water bowl to soak your feet in. Is there any place like that in El Paso? I can't seem to locate one. Thank you for your help.Attention El Pasoans: Is there a salon/spa here that does NOT use jets for pedicures?
You can go to the discount spa on Dyer street and ask them not to turn on the jets! They will just let you soak if or they have buckets.. But that one cleans Ive seen them do it. Or if that's the one you are having a problem with I can't be much of a help I only go there...

I'd LOVE to get a pedicure while I am pregnant, but I have read that the fumes from the salon are toxic. W2D?

I asked my doctor about this too :- ) and he said that the fumes were not toxic, it is just a matter of whether or not the smell makes you nauseated...for some women, especially in early pregnancy the smell would make them sick. The only thing you have to be concerned about is getting the foot massage from a pedicure in late pregnancy, an inexperienced person could trigger labor for you through certain pressure points on your foot, so you may just want to skip the massage part if you are over 37 weeks. But there is nothing that makes you feel prettier than having cute toes-even though you will be too big to see them yourself :- )I'd LOVE to get a pedicure while I am pregnant, but I have read that the fumes from the salon are toxic. W2D?
Some people find the acrylic from the nails makes them nauseated.

But I dont think just being in the salon (for the pedicure) you would get too much of a whiff of it

It didnt bother me at all and I recently got my toes and fingernails done, made me feel great!

As for it being toxic, I am a dental assistant and we use the same acrylic compound for our temporary crowns, I discussed this with my doctor and he said that the fumes were not toxic, its just a matter of if it made me nauseated or not.

Enjoy your day at the salon :)I'd LOVE to get a pedicure while I am pregnant, but I have read that the fumes from the salon are toxic. W2D?
I don't think it is a big deal. My friend kept her nails done the whole time she was pregnant with her son and is now doing the same thing being pregnant with her daughter. She has had no problems at all. Also, in a salon, it is usually pretty open and well ventilated so its not like you are really breathing it in much, I don't really even notice it at my nail salon.
They say that you shoudl not go into a nail salon until you are past your 20th week of pregnancy because yes the fumes are toxic. Now what i never understood was how the women at the salon that work there, get pregnant and work there all day everyday from month 1 through 9. I wont take that chance. Im 30 weeks and i just started 2 weeks ago getting them done. i wanted to make sure my baby was 100% ok. its your discretion though, but definitly not in the first trimester since its your most crucial.
You could go to a salon that does not specialize in nails. I'm not sure how toxic it is, but yes nail salons have a strong smell from the fumes. Try a regular beauty salon that does hair, massages, etc. The one I go to like that offers manicure/pedicures and there is no smell in there because they are not doing nails for 300 people all day long.
Hello sweetie, and yes fumes can be toxic. But some tips are to go to the salon, get the cute pedicure but ask for HYPOALLERGENIC nail polish if they have any, and then when you get home drink about one bottle of water.

I'm sure your baby will be adorable!

    xoxox

I walked into a nail bar once and the fumes were disgusting so i wouldnt recomend it.Soak your feet in a bowl of warm water at home with olive oil or an essential oil,and ask some kind person to paint your toenails if you have trouble reaching them.
Do it! They are not so toxic that you could not go get your toes done for an hour. I kept my nails/fills going while I was pregnant and my daughter was fine. If it will make you feel better do it!

Salon visit help. Hairstyle and pedicure polish color.?

I am a crossdresser (skip the gay references they only show your ignorance) and would like suggestions for polish color for my toes (Can't be too bold) and hairstyle ideas that require a roller set but that aren't out of style for shoulder length wig. Also suggestions on what to wear? I have black slacks or jeans. What top (I know it needs buttons) Heels or flats? Also do most women change into smocks or robes when they get their hair done? Or just the cape?Salon visit help. Hairstyle and pedicure polish color.?
Hi....For the toe color go with something neutral like a beige or light color but not white. See if you like this style I'm growing my hair out for this one. I already have the color. Go with jeans and flats I would wear some kind of cute t-shirt or any top with jeans. and depending on the salon it's whatever they use but you don't have to take your top off anyway it just goes over your clothes. Anyway check this great style out.

Does anyone know where I can find a salon in Astoria, NY that offers Doctor Fish pedicures?

I'm aware they seem disgusting, %26amp; I'm personally pretty horrified by the idea. However, a friend of mine has had it done in Japan %26amp; insists I have to try it with her when she comes to visit. I've heard there is one around here that offers this service, but I can't find it.Does anyone know where I can find a salon in Astoria, NY that offers Doctor Fish pedicures?
Well, I know they just recently banned those fishy pedicures because there is no way of disinfecting the fish. They nibble on other people before they nibble on you. How sanitary can that be? I am not sure, but I bet if you go down to China Town you could get one.

Why when I go to the nail salon to get my pedicure they do such a great job, it dont seem like they?

doing much but my toes looks so pretty. When I do them at home same technique I think, they dont come out as good. I hear when I go to the shop ';I have pretty feet';, I take care of my feet use the pumince stone at home. However my toes seem like it's no justice when I do them myself. why is that? Why when I go to the nail salon to get my pedicure they do such a great job, it dont seem like they?
It's probably the angle. They sit in front of you and have two hands to do it. When we do it by ourselves we need to bend down, hold with one hand and file with the other. Plus they do it everyday and are pros. =)

Can you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?

According to the Tyra Banks show you can get infections. . . but I forgot what she said, sorryCan you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?
Yes, you definitely can. Be sure that your salon practices appropriate sanitation; if this sort of infection happens more than once 1) find a new salon and 2) report the old one to the health department! Can you get infections when you get pedicures at a nail salon type place?
fungal spores from nail clippings and burring procedures can result in lung fungal infection, nail fungus(might take months for it to show),,,,the place has to observe state regs about ascepsis in doing business,,,,,,,besides fungus theres 30 kinds of bacteria that can cause skin infection ,,,,,,,
supposedly you can, but i heard that if they cut of ur cuticules it causes infection but ive done them more than once and thank god nothing yet, i guess it also depends on ur skin type
    Yes you can...I did.
    Hi from France 鈾?br>

I think it's possible, however most nail salons are clean ...

    Have a nice day,

    Cat.
yes...you could get some fungal infections easily and even from the person giving the pedicure if she's infected with some skin disease.
you could, if theyre not keen on hygiene

ideally the equipment used should be sterilized so as to be free from germs but we all know some shops cut corners.

better you do it yourself its cheaper and you could minimize infection and because it is you thats doing the cutting and the pushing , pain and injuries are minimized.
SURE IF THE PLACE IS DIRTY.
that would be a #1 place d/t peolpe not sanitizing properly between customers
    most definitely
yes you can. if things like nail files and nail clippers haven't been properly dissinfected., stuff like fungus can easily be past on. eewwwww!
absolutley. they can use not pure antibacterial cleaner because its cheap for them... also they are supposed to clean between clients (ALL their tools) AND not reuse certain files and whatnot. I personally went to a shop and noticed they did this and i left. you can find what salons should be doing on the state cosmetology licensing board website.
hi, yes you can get very nasty infections

If they re use towels and dont disinfect them you can ger a bacterial skin infection

when you go please make sure to ask them to give you a frsh towel and see to it that you carry your own Pumic stone and other things you will need to invest in a pedicure set that way it wiil be your stuf they use

yea if u live in highland park il then go to tylar reesse reallly good salon!!!!!

If your pedicure is twenty dollars, how much do you tip? At a nail salon, walk in place.?

walk in place parlour means u can give 4 dollarsIf your pedicure is twenty dollars, how much do you tip? At a nail salon, walk in place.?
5 bucks if they do a good jobIf your pedicure is twenty dollars, how much do you tip? At a nail salon, walk in place.?
    who tips any more
$3-4 (15-20% is the range I use for salon services)

However, since the price is pretty low I'd consider tipping a bit more if I were really happy w/ the service.
    At least $5.00

Anyone who handles my stinky feet deserves to be rewarded for their bravery.

    It's not a tip, it's HAZARD pay!
If I were you I would tip $3.00.
I read this in a newspaper: for every ten dollar spent at a restaurant or places where you have to give tip you have to add $1.50 on the amount. For instance let鈥檚 say your total for a meal is $30.00. Then the tip you have to add is $4.50.

So the tip you have to give at the nail salon should be $3.00
2 is ten percent so i think that 2 is good for a person that doesn't regularly come to the same place and 5 if you are a regular.
    $5
    $ 2.00- $ 3.00..is fine.

I got so worried last night. I got a pedicure and she painted my toe nails.

I didnt smell any fumes as pedicure section was seperate and 2 men were getting it next to me.

I read the baby boys genitals can be affected.Have I done harm?

What do I do now? I am getting a non acetone remover to remove the polish today tho it looks so pretty.

Please adviceI am 26 wks with a baby boy, went to nail salon yday for pedicure n now am reading fumes are bad for baby boy?
You are going to be a good mom. Otherwise you wouldn't be worrying about the little stuff. Your baby is fine, just don't paint your nails anymore if it worries you : )I am 26 wks with a baby boy, went to nail salon yday for pedicure n now am reading fumes are bad for baby boy?
Unless your salon is the size of a closet you're fine. Use your own sense, if you think the fumes are too strong/can smell them too clearly, ask for a fan to stir the air up or a cracked window for ventilation. I got my hair and nails done several times while pregnant, and my monkey is a big and healthy boy. Hey, you're gaining weight and aching everywhere, and can't even have a drink. You should be pampered somehow right?
Yes they are bad for you and now you know, so don't do it again, but don't worry about the pedicure you already received. And be glad you do not do nails for a living!

There are some nail polishes out there that are safe for people to actually use. I love OPI's colors, but will not paint my nails again until I get some of the non-toxic stuff.
You are fine! Don't listen to the woman who said you aren't. It is perfectly FINE to get pedicures. A lot of fumes are not good, but doing it once in awhile is certainly NOT going to hurt anything. And there is definitely no reason to remove the nail polish. It is not hurting anything being there. If you don't believe me, ask your OB. He/she will tell you that you are fine as well.
i actually went and got one the day i started having contractions cuz i heard that they could help bring labor on, i think if you were to get a mani it might be a lil worse but i dont think a pedi would be a problem cuz its not up by your face, oh and it didnt bring labor on right away i didnt end up goin in thil midnight and i got it in the afternoon so dont think it really worked
LOL! No your baby will be fine. I had a pedi done 2 days ago. I just made sure I was the only one in there to limit the fumes. It'll be fine. Don't worry.
your baby gonna be fine, i was pregnant %26amp;%26amp; work through my pregnancies at the nail salon and my babie came out healthy and fine
why only baby boy? lol there bad for everyone but i doubt just one session would be fatal just dont go there regularly till u have had the baby
    Dont be so ridiculous.
    they are bad for you and the baby yes...stay away from the nail solons and that stuff until after you have him...baby's health is way more important than pretty nails or hair. you dont want to be the one saying 'my kid has this birth defect but hey look at my gorgeous nails.';

My wife gets her pedicure done at the salon by a 60 year old man. Men know this wrong, why don't women?

Every single man on the planet knows what is going on with this guy, why don't women admit it?My wife gets her pedicure done at the salon by a 60 year old man. Men know this wrong, why don't women?
I can't believe these women! You know what is going on! He takes the mental image of her foot home with him and waxes himself with old butter before he goes to sleep. If a man oogles you, you get all upset but here a man is fondling something and you don't see a problem with it. What if he was only massaging her a ss? That would be a problem wouldn't it?My wife gets her pedicure done at the salon by a 60 year old man. Men know this wrong, why don't women?
Hey, for what it's worth, I would NEVER let a man do my pedicures. Massage yes, but pedicure? No !!! That's just too weird. I've never seen a man in such a role. Way too creepy for me!!

He may be gay, and if he is just working out his fetish, so what. It's not like your wife is doing anything wrong and this guy loves his job.
The man possibly is doing pedicures as an occupation with no occultic gender suspicions or stipulations, traditional hooplah attached!
I'm guessing you are thinking this guy has some sort of a foot fettish? I get my nails done in a salon fairly often and I can tell you this is not the truth at all. A nail technician has to do both, manicures and pedicures, it's a part of the job and most of them, hate doing pedicures. The men and women who work in these salons have families; wives, children the whole nine yards. Most of them are foreigners as well, who could not obtain an education for anything else other than trade schools. When you talk to them...it doesn't seem to be their choice for a line of work and the majority of them wish they could be doing something else. Now, if you want to worry about foot fettishes....visit a podiatrist....that's where the weirdness comes in.
well, it does seem he probably has a foot fetish. But unless he is doing anything innappropriate at the salon, there is nothing wrong. He is using a legal outlet for his fetish, instead of licking girls toes on subways, or whatever else.
What's wrong with it? So he gets off on giving a young women a pedicure. Poor old guy.
sorry, but men do nails better than women. no big deal. that's why we go to them.
I am a man on this planet and I don't get whats wrong with it. Please iterate.
You are upset because this man is clipping your wifes toenails? What is the problem?
What in the world are you talking about? Wrong? Why is a pedicure specialist ';wrong.'; You need to get a grip, not her. You have a strange idea of wrong and right.
She could always refuse or go to another salon.

he must do a fabulous job.
So he is probably getting his cookies off - but your wife is getting her feet washed, toenails trim and toenails painted - are you going to do this for her? So, let it go and be thankful that is all she is getting!@
Wrong ?? Why is it wrong ? Are you going to say he has a foot fetish and gets to touch all these women's feet ?? Ok so if this is wrong then men getting massages from women are wrong too.
Don't get it, whats wrong with that? I get my toes done at a salon by a guy? So? Most of them do a better job anyway.
    Oh please! Nothing is wrong.
Perhaps your wife is a whore?
    i C!

    suck is on the chair!

    ZEUS!
    wHAT'S WRONG WITH IT??? Confused

Why do some pedicure salons sell their patrons' nail clippings to people with a foot fetish?

That is ridiculous. It sounds like one of those far out urban legends. Check it out at www.snopes.com You sure are gullible. Why do some pedicure salons sell their patrons' nail clippings to people with a foot fetish?
I've never heard of that but it's nasty and disgusting.
someone is pulling your leg, surley!
I don't know. This is the first I've heard of it. Some people will do anything for a buck, I guess. Gross.
that's hard for me to believe. i have a huge fetish for the female foot that is pretty. if you dint know who the clipping belong too why purchase them. those clipping could come from ';big bubba'; or some other gross out guy. But who knows i might go for it if i could be there when the clippings are taken but i would like to pay the female and not the salon cause they will get paid for the pedicure and possible a tip.
    i didn't know that.
    EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

next time I go to one, I am going to ask them....then ask why they are gross like that...I would understand if it was for something beneficial......but not for someone to add seasoning to their food....or sex life. Pervs.
I didn't know they did that ewwww
I did not know that people sold clippings, next time you go get a pedicure, make sure to ask for the clipping back, you never know who will be getting way to happy with those clippings.
i have never heard of that but that is absolutely discusting!!!!!!!

  • How much should you tip the beauty salon people who do manicures/pedicures?

I recently had a mani/pedi combo done, that cost $38. There was a girl doing my hands, then one doing my feet. They did a good job. How much is a good tip for them each? How much should you tip the beauty salon people who do manicures/pedicures?
About 7 or 8 bucks, because they did a really good job. Most people just do 5 bucks tip.How much should you tip the beauty salon people who do manicures/pedicures?
Yeah, if I had to touch someone's feet I'd want it to be *a lot*...
$5 For both of them would be fine! 10 to 15 % of the cost is good enough! More importantly you should treat them well! Kind words, praise, etc!!!
Normally I tip $10 for my feets (I'm a guy and ok with getting pedicures). I'd probably do the same for the hands. You want to take care of these people, they are making you look good by working pretty hard.
    I tip 20%
the first time I get a pedicure/manicure from a new salon I will give them over 50% but that is so they will know I will pay them better for a good job. If the job isn't as good the next time I will drastically drop it. But standard should always be 15% (10% says cheap and 20% says push over- more than 20% says take care of this person and they'll put your kids thru college every time they come in). I do the same thing with my hair salon too. But this is something that I value most about my appearance and I will budget the money to make that possible. I'm not rich but its SO WORTH IT! Hope that helps
    5$
I stick with the 20%-%30 on this. In this case that would be $8-$12 total. Keep in mind what you are paying and what it's for. It probably took about 30 minutes. So you are paying someone $40 an hour already. They don't actually get that but the owner does. A lot of that goes to over head but the fact still remains that is how much an engineer gets paid an hour and these people are just cleaning your nails. I still do a tip when I get mine done because the worker usually doesn't get that money.

How much do pedicures & manicures cost in a nail salon in new york city?

Do salons require you to set up appointments before getting your nails done?

How much is a pedicure and manicure alone?

and how much is it together?

Thanks! How much do pedicures %26amp; manicures cost in a nail salon in new york city?
well it depends on which salons you are going to, and how much money you have to drop. the higher ends salons, you do have to have an appointment and you will likely drop between 100 to 150 on such services. but a nice regular salon no appointment is necessary and walkins are welcome. i have often gone to nyc (live outside it) and there are some awesome places where you can get good cheap pedi and mani for like 12 bucks for both.

Nail Salon, Wine, Manicure, Pedicure, San Francisco?

There's supposed to be a Nail Salon in San Francisco that serves wine while you get your service. Anyone know the name?Nail Salon, Wine, Manicure, Pedicure, San Francisco?
I'm a Bay Area native, born and raised and when I had my nails, hair done there I was offered a glass of wine. That was only after I had been a long time customer and they were very comfortable with me.

I reside in another town now...and my current salon does the same, offering me a glass of wine if appointment is in late afternoon or evening. I'll have the wine only if it suits my mood at the time. Mostly I'll have tea or coffee as I want to pay close attention to how my hair or nails are being tended to.

Please recommend a good beauty salon in South Bombay for regular stuff like waxing, pedicure, facials?

Does anyone feel uncomfortable using the nippers and pushers at the salon for manicures and pedicures?

So many customers use them. And they are cutting skin, sometimes people bleed by accident. I know they disinfect them but still...... It is not like it is a hospital that is severely regulated. Does anyone feel uncomfortable using the nippers and pushers at the salon for manicures and pedicures?
I prefer to bring my own one. Or some places you can buy your own case, which has everything and leave it there. Everytime you drop by you can use your own one.

The answer is no I don't feel comfortable using them, as I don't know if they properly sterilized themDoes anyone feel uncomfortable using the nippers and pushers at the salon for manicures and pedicures?
no because it is the law that they have to sterilize everything or throw it out but if you choose you can bring in your own at most salons and spas

Can you work at a nail salon and only do pedicures?

I like womens' feet, and if i could get paid for massaging, moisterizing, and pampering them, that would be so great. Can you work at a nail salon and only do pedicures?
Yeah, I say go for it! I would love having a guy do that to me, it'd be heaven.

E-mail me and we can meet up!Can you work at a nail salon and only do pedicures?
    sure.
A man does my nails. I have to admit when he started at my salon I was surprised. Don't get me wrong, a lot of men work there, but this guy was different. He has tattoos %26amp; piercings, I thought it was pretty cool. Now, all the ladies that go there love him lol! Good luck, I'm sure you'll be very successful!!
yeah you can but you wont last that long. not a lot of people get theyr feet done unless you can make designs on the toe nails.

Im 17, a Guy, and Straight but i want to go to Nail Salon and get a Pink, Red, or French Pedicure should i?

Interesting, I suppose.Im 17, a Guy, and Straight but i want to go to Nail Salon and get a Pink, Red, or French Pedicure should i?
..uhh is this a joke? lolIm 17, a Guy, and Straight but i want to go to Nail Salon and get a Pink, Red, or French Pedicure should i?
to be honest i think you shouldn't because it'll look a little awkward.

but if your mind is set on getting a mani/pedi you should just go for a clear color

or even black or dark blue for your fingers cuz guys could pull those colors off. :)
    wtf? u dont sound straight
    k perez hilton
    Ha seriously!!!
you could but if anyone sees it expect to be made fun of
    wait why do want too?

    whats the reason?

but if u want,go ahead, nothings stopping u

but if u are too embarrased then just buy nailpolish and do it at home1
French would be the most flattering to your feet.
Go ahead and do it. Dont worry about what other people say or think, it's not hurting anyone so go ahead and do it.

It's not gay eather, it's called crossdressing, and there is no problem with it.

I will for warn you though, expect people to treat you differnt, but as I said, who cares, true friends wont care if you do. So goodluck if you do it :)

And hell, why your at it, get a Manicure why your at it.

If you worked in a salon and a zombie came in, would you offer a pedicure, or a wrap?

Personally, since I have to look at the thing, I would offer a full body wrap and never take it off. He can chew his own toe nails to clear up any problems there. Funny and good question!!If you worked in a salon and a zombie came in, would you offer a pedicure, or a wrap?
    Probably a wrap. A full-body wrap.

So that's what mummies used to be before they stepped into the beauty salon.

And what is with your obsession with zombies anyway?

    Jenova

(d.yuffie@gmail.com)If you worked in a salon and a zombie came in, would you offer a pedicure, or a wrap?
I'd give them a referral to Neiman Marcus for a new wardrobe, or Bed Bath and Beyond (the Grave) for the smell.
Awrap for sure if it was Rob!! lol
i offer him a part in a Rod Zombie movie and a facial
I wouldn't offer it anything because it would just eat me afterwards.
    wrap
I would ask, how may I help you today, and then use my 30.06 on them.
i would eat some of it then wrap it up to go
pedicure....I would save the wrap for the regular mummies lol
Hasn't he already had enough of a wrap? He needs an unwrap! I think he'd need a facial and a massage (verrrry gently).
    a wrap..
I would probably offer a wrap cause that would help all the body part stay on. If you give a pedicure the foot may fall off. Zombies are delicate.
Actually, I would offer them a full make-over and nominate them to be on ';What Not To Wear';.
    No-brainer (get it? hilarious) -- a wrap.
I would take my lunch break right about then, one look at my big head and they would be after me.
    A wrap %26amp; facial.
well considering that as the skin decays, the nails stay at the same length, so they will APPEAR to continue growing, I'd have to go with the pedicure, but probably throw in a manicure also. I would also trim them up a bit because their hair will have the same appearance.
No, I will offer him my friend. ha, ha.
ummmm no way would I want to see his feet, but I wouldn't want to re-wrap him either, since he might not have clothes underneath, so definitely a pedicure
well, wraps are for detoxifying and water weight loss, so i'm thinking a zombie doesn't need that?

    a pedicure
i think a pedicure, the wrap would be for the occasional mummy that comes in.
    A body wrap.
    ill rape him
    hmm..pedicure

I would recommend my favourite nail salon, the costs are very low, just $3 for both hands! First you fly to New York, after arriving at JFK take a number 11 bus to downtown, get off and catch a number 44 bus to Lexington Street, not Ave mind, street! Walk up the street and look for number, Oh hell I forget the number, fancy a burger instead!

Want a pedicure at salon in nj or pa that uses basins instead of tubs with jets ( to avoid fungus)?

Even if they don't have jets, there can still be bacteria in the tub if they don't wash it properly. If they are not careful, you could end up with flesh eating bacteria, which will eat its way up your legs!! Not really worth it for a pedicure. I say do it yourself at home, maybe with a friend or something.

What does the nail salon soak your feet in when they do a pedicure?

how do you do a pedicureWhat does the nail salon soak your feet in when they do a pedicure?
They will soak your feet because it softens up the skin, cuticles and nails. What does the nail salon soak your feet in when they do a pedicure?
well they soak ur feet and masage to make it feel good and soften the skin and to do a pedicure pretty much just soak ur feet adn but on nice nail polish
They usually soak you in a sea salt aromatherapy mixture. It's to soften your skin and clean your feet before they work on them. Different salons do pedicures in different ways. If you're interested in getting one I would call a few salons and ask about their pedicures. Most salons have a broochure you could get also. You should also make sure they are a licensed salon and a licensed operator if your state requires that. Reputable salons should be able to show you theit licenses. Not all states require this though. I do nails in a state (PA) which requires licensing so you know you're getting a qualified technician and also cleanliness is usually better. The salon should be clean as well as the footbath because you can catch certain things from dirty footbaths.
You soak your feet in salt water hun. I am a pedicurist. If you want full details, then e-mail me. Hope ya choose me for the best answer :)
    I don't think this was a ';why'; question...HAHAH

I used to work at sally's beauty supplies and they have this stuff...it's these salts an powder and you can put them/let desolve in a manicure tub. And the good thing is that they have all sorts of scents. Aromatherapheutic!! Sorry but i fogot the name f the product. but if you go to sally's ask them they should know. Or go into the nail section. Everyhting should be in order.

And you want to know how do you do a pedicure?

Before starting your pedicure, collect some pillows, a chair, and a stool to rest your feet on. You'll need an area that somewhat well-lit, and some relaxing music will set the mood. hahahaha Make sure that your pillows are not shedding fluff, because that may stick to polish. Now gather a nail file, cuticle oil, a tub or warm water, nail polish, a hair dryer and a towel. Take all old nail polish off of toenails with polish remover. Wash your feet thoroughly, then get rid of any dirt under nails with a Q-tip. You are now ready to start.

File your toenails with the nails file. Make sure that you wait after washing them to do this, so that they are hard and firm. File vigorously back and forth.

place your feet in the basin of warm water and let them soak for a small while. Avoid soaking for too long, because they may begin to look like prunes! Take them from the bath and wipe them gently with a towel. Be sure that the towel leaves no hairs on the nails, or there may tangle with the polish. Take your cuticle oil and rub it into your nails when finished. Rub firmly, and make sure that you cover the surface of each nail. Let them dry. At this time, you may want to smooth some lotion over your feet as well.

Once your nails have dried from the water and the oil, take your nail file and rub their surfaces gently. This will allow the coats of polish to stick. When you have rubbed each lightly, it's time for your first coat of nail polish. This undercoat is called base, and usually is clear or light yellow. Smooth it over nails moving from the top of the toenail to the tip. Make sure the surface of each nail is covered. Using a base coat will make your coats of color polish last longer, and avoid chipping. It also protects the nail from the abrasive effects that drying and chipping color polish can have. To dry, use your hair dryer at low heat. Then apply color, using the same, long strokes to the tip. Apply as many coats as you need, but be careful, because too many coats can actually promote chipping.

When you are finished adding color, dry nails again with the hair dryer. Then add nail gloss to the tips of each nail, for a shine. Professional pedicurists usually finish off a manicure by buffing dried nails with a buffing stick. This makes sure that all residual nail dust and dirt, etc., has been brushed away.

When you are finished your nails should have a professional, cultured look. Take care to walk carefully to avoid abrasion, and make sure to show your shiny feet to everyone that passes by!

Hope this will help you out.

    Good luck.
They don't use any typical water for the job, I'm pretty sure that they use salt water. It helps soothe your skin so that it is easier to do the pedicure. Because dipping it in any type of regular water doesn't really help. The salt softens it to make it easier to get all the things on the back of your foot off. I found this info out by asking my mancurist a month or 2 ago.

    Good luck!

definitely.Do you think it is ok for a guy to go to a salon and get a pedicure with red or pink polish and the works?
There is no reason why not! However stay away from the beach and swimming pools and any other place where you will have bare feet. I wouldn't give a damn but there are some guys out there who might just make things a little rough. Toe nail polish on guys may not be acceptable--- yet!
    yeah....If he's gay
Yes, guys need pink toes or red toes. It makes them look more divine and divaesque.
pedicures are okay, nowadays guys are also becoming more concerned about their appearances and it's nice to see a wellgroomed guy. but i would advise you against the red/pink thing, you might get mistaken for a gay, unless you want that. stick with clear polish or more masculine colours.

As you will have to sit him on the floor in his seat or even if you hold him, I would say no. The fumes being the biggest thing, but also most nail places despite their attempts at cleanliness are rather filthy. See if you can get a friend or relative to watch him for an hour, I think you would also enjoy your ';ME'; time a little more if you were by yourself.';is it safe to take my 7month old nephew to the nail salon while i get a pedicure?? He is a well behaved 7 mon
I know some people will not like this, but oh well.....when my first baby was only three days old I took her with me to get a pedicure and manicure. Sometime's we just need to take care of ourselves. I just kept her in her carseat with a blanket over it to help keep the fumes away from her. She never suffered from it. A 7month old though, I don't know. I'd say if you can keep him covered with out him yanking the cover off then it should be fine, but if not I would wait until you could get a sitter.
If it is well ventilated, i see no problem with this. My mother-in-law owns a beauty salon, and my son now 6 was first in there at 3 weeks old. Now he would rather stay with her while she is there. He has had no ill effects from it. Being exposed to perms, hair dyes and etc. most of that is stronger smelling than the acrylic nails. My daughter was 3 weeks old also for her first time in the salon.
eeww nail salon... why would woman do such a nasty thing?
It's fine. I've seen people with newborns in there. So 7months is better than 6weeks. It will be fine!!:)(:
I think u better keep him home... i have a 7 mth old boy myself and i dare not use nail polish around him as i fear the fumes. they will definately affect him. keep yr child away from all these fumes as much as possible.
The fumes are DEFINITELY NOT healthy for his little body. Keep him home.

If you have toe nail fungus will they refuse to do your pedicure at the nail salon?

Well, if your nail technician will do your pedicure WITH fungus or an infection of any kind, it is probably where you caught it. You should really stay away from any beauty technician that will try to cover something like that. Go see a podiatrist and also look at some over the counter/home remedies...such as taking a nail file and run it over the surface of the toenail then rub Vick's Vapor Rub into the top of the toenail. The grooves will help keep the Vick's on the toenail. Do this for several days/nights in a row as often as you can.The Eucalyptus in the Vick's will kill the fungus on the nail faster than any store-bought anti-fungal available !...or so says the home remedies book.

You'd better get your feet cleaned up by using a special cream (with ketoconazol or myconazol = conazol or lotrimin) or oral medication.

Do you find that your local oriental nail SALON actually gives YOU a good pedicure?

Now, I love my local salon, for foot massages and eyebrow waxes ONLY.

The 3 times I tried the pedicures, I found that they were real fast like, didn't really do the job great, so now I just give myself one/do this myself at home w/a pumice stone/foot soak ect.

back to original question : ) thanksDo you find that your local oriental nail SALON actually gives YOU a good pedicure?
Really? I have found mine gives amazing pedicures. More often than not I go in just for a perdicure and nothing else. The little foot bath thing with the massage chair and the leg massage is just a perk, plus they always do a great job with the painting itself.Do you find that your local oriental nail SALON actually gives YOU a good pedicure?
Pedicures are more popular these days than Manicures and are alot more work. It seems like these ladies just dont pay attention to detail or they get distracted if they are doing more than one thing at a time. It took me a long time of just having to deal with my local salon and the way they do it. Until one day, I found a salon, where the lady does only pedicures and she does it perfect. If you want a manicure or wax, there are different people that do each thing. I would prefer to find an expert in each area, than have one person do a sloppy job in all of them.

  • How much do you tip at the nail salon just for a pedicure?

$5 if you like what they did.How much do you tip at the nail salon just for a pedicure?
if it's a decent to good one i would normally tip $5-10 this depends on the person though!!How much do you tip at the nail salon just for a pedicure?
First of all, it does depend on whether you love the way they did your nails, or if you think they are just ok. Sometimes, they have information about the nail salon including what they usually except for tips. No matter what the amount, it's still good to give them something.
No more than $5 depending on the service.
    $5.00 is good...
I would tip based on if I liked the work.

It is not the customer's job to pay the worker at the salon.

    Anywhere between 5 - 20%.
between 3-5 dollars is fine. it really depends on if they did a good job and were polite and everything to you....
depends on how much i spend, but usually about 4 bucks!
Maybe about 3-5 dollars depending on how they did
You usually tip about 10-15% of the cost depending on how good of a job was done. If you got a more complicated job of painting done, than I would tip 15%.

I'd be thankful that a guy cared enough about his appearance to get a pedicure. There was a time when you would never have seen men Doing the pedicures, but that's all changed now.
    i would do NOTHING lol

guys do that all the time now its not a big deal at all its nice

they are takeing care of themselves

i see it all the time.. its no big deal =]
that would be cool! i love guys who care about little things like that haha. i would rather them be doing that then having manky feet or whatever lol
its no big deal, i would do the same thing that i do when i see a woman getting a pedicure - nothing!
just walk past him........would do nothing

this is the matter of hygiene no one has right to judge or laugh at him just because of that!!!!!
    nothing... it's called HYGIENE
probably just ignore him. It's not a big deal. I see guys getting pedis all the time.
Nothing...I see this all the time at my nail salon......I just mind my own business.....men have nails too.....
    just act normal
I'd just smile to myself =)

Do they and can a ped egg be use during a pedicure at a salon?

No, the ped egg is designed to be used by only person, shouldn't be tried to used over and over by different people.

Has anyone ever worn pantyhose and taken them off for a pedicure at the salon?

    I haven't

    - But I'm sure some silly girl has at one time!!!

If you're going for a pedicure don't wear themHas anyone ever worn pantyhose and taken them off for a pedicure at the salon?
yes I have. I wore my nylons even knowing I had to take them off because It was cold. I wore a skirt instead of jeans because it was not only a pedicure but leg waxing as well. I went to the rest room and removed them.Has anyone ever worn pantyhose and taken them off for a pedicure at the salon?
If I knew I was going for a pedicure, I wouldn't wear them! Trousers instead.
Yeah. It's tough to paint my toenails through my pantyhose. ;-)

Is it a good idea to provide nail salon customers with on demand media during a pedicure/manicure?

The customer could browse the internet, watch tv, movies, listen to music or radio. Is it a good idea to provide nail salon customers with on demand media during a pedicure/manicure?
Dunno if it's a good idea to pay for but I would enjoy it if I was the customer. Is it a good idea to provide nail salon customers with on demand media during a pedicure/manicure?
I think it's fab idea, although surely the customers would have to pay more? Because it couldn't be cheap to provide all of that... But yes, a great idea. I'm always so bored waiting... Good Luck ;)

Which is better, a manicure and pedicure from a salon or store bought materials?

Going to Jr. year in high school and want some nice looking nails.

Thanks for the help in advance. :)Which is better, a manicure and pedicure from a salon or store bought materials?
I think it's better to get them done at a salon.. but it'll get expensive after awhile. Invest in a couple good nail polish colors and do them yourself! :] Then treat yourself with getting them done at a salon.Which is better, a manicure and pedicure from a salon or store bought materials?
    In my opinion:

Well I know for a fact that salons work for anybody who will pay them. They ';say'; after every customer they clean the materials, but you can never be sure if they do or how well they do it. A friend of mine went to a classy salon, very expensive, clean and she got an infection that cut her toenail so short it took WEEKS and WEEKS to grow out. Ouch, I don't think anybody deserves that.

    However it is your choice.
if u get your nails done at a spa, thats the best but otherwise do them yourself at home then you can use the products you want

and besides, spas are too expensive
no competition. salon all the way
salons are WAY better cause you know they will do a good job. plus...its WAY cheaper than buying all those materials...usually! and your welcome!:)
At the salon is better. you could sit back and relax.

Would you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?

I'm debating whether I should get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it myself at home. Most of the time I don't get them done at a salon since im very ticklish from my feet lol but im thinking maybe i should but debating salon or doing at home myselfWould you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?
the salonWould you rather get a pedicure done at a salon or doing it yourself?
i used to get them done at salons, but after i got a foot tattoo %26amp; watched some horror stories on tyra of pedicures gone wrong (the salon didn't clean their tools, etc.,) i've started doing them at home. it's much cheaper, and gives you time to chill out %26amp; relax while your toes dry
well. for me eh I'm kind of neutral. i work in a nail salon. yeah i know what you talking about. lol i just do my own nails.

but i still think you should go to the salon. they paint it better.... BUT. it's expensive
i love to treat my self. I get my nails done every 2 weeks. yes my feet is also ticklish as well. but i go to same person so they know how to scrub my feet.
it might look nicer at a salon and you will have good treatment but i'm always worried about getting foot fungus or athlete's feet from someone else who went there! Also if you go tell them to go easy on your feet your very tickilish!
    Get it done, why not?

I personally never have b.c i think it's a waste of money...if you have my philosophy then do it yourself.

    :)
its funny im a manicurist, but would rather do my own, instead of pampering myself.
I would rather go in a salon than do them myself because it is more relaxing.
salon!!! they look soooo much better
Go to the salon...It's much more relaxing...Just tell 'em your ticklish, and they'll be careful around your feet.
    salon
    ...

    hmmm.

i think you should treat yourself and go get it done at a salon!

    :)
Me too! I rather go to the salon!
i would rather go to the salon!

What is the difference in a pedicure from a discount nail salon and one from a spa?

You'll need to read what is performed for what you pay. Sometimes there is no difference in the service, you might be paying for: that nicer chair you sit on, the longer length of time it takes for the service to be performed in order to feel pampered, high rent on the location maybe?, etc., etc.

    You get it.

    Pepper.

Im thinking about going to the beauty salon for a manicure and pedicure?

Im a guy and been thinking about going to have my nails done to look better. Also i like how nail polish looks on my toenails and wanted to see if its ok for guys to wear color on their nails?Im thinking about going to the beauty salon for a manicure and pedicure?
Polished toenails are IN for guys! The Today show this week featured newer products that Sephora recently began carrying, and included was Man Glaze non-gloss nail polish for MEN!

Many of the darker colors that have recently become available (black, dark blue, dark maroon) work well for guy's toes. I've been wearing these colors on my toes for almost five years and my wife and her friends all love it! When they come over, they always want to see what new color I'm wearing.

In case you are looking for more examples of men wearing their toes polished, do a search on ';men toenail polish'; and you'll find a lot of blogs about this. In fact, a number of the writers ask ';why don't more men wear nail polish?';. You can base your own opinion on what the commenters say.

As far as the fingernails, gels are your best bet if you're looking for a way to make your nails look smoother and more cared-for. Gels are not as hard on your natural nails as acylics and they are easier to take off. I'd suggest that you keep the length to a 'guy normal' though, since longer fingernails for men has not really taken off.

Kudos to you for taking an interest in this newer, but not entirely new style for forward-thinking men!Im thinking about going to the beauty salon for a manicure and pedicure?
Paint your toe nails if you want, it doesn't matter if others don't like it. And you've asked the question about having fingernails applied so many times that I'd've thought you'd have worked out what the best set would be by now.

  • Is it me or is it just plain weird to see elderly men getting a pedicure at a nail salon?

    I mean.

Younger guys who're like sport players (or just gay) seem fine.. but is it wrong of me to think it's wrong and kind of weird for elderly guys? It just looks like they want some pretty girls to touch them or something.

What's your opinion? Is it me or is it just plain weird to see elderly men getting a pedicure at a nail salon?
A lot of questions spring to mind when I read this.

First I think you should define elderly. I mean, I don't know what you mean by that, are you talking about 90 or 40? Regardless of age anyway, I think it's unusual, but I don't think it's weird. So what is they want to have a pedicure, it's a free world and I think it's great if people (especially men) manage to overcome stereotypes and judgement and don't let society stop them doing what they want.

Secondly, what the hell is wrong if they do want pretty girls to touch them? They're not doing anything wrong. It seems a pretty harmless way to enjoy female company.

Oh and finally... You seem to think there is an age at when gay men cease to exist? Or turn straight? I know you don't mean any harm, but my philosophy is always to let people do what they enjoy doing, if it doesn't harm anyone else.Is it me or is it just plain weird to see elderly men getting a pedicure at a nail salon?
It's just you. Your just sterotyping the poor guy. Just because he is getting a pedicure doesn't mean he just wants pretty girls to touch him. You never know, His wife could be getting her hair done, and made him do it.
it depends i mean if they do want girls to touch them or watever than thts jst plain creepy, but u never know maybe he has a realy bad foot fungus like my dad or something lol jk
Well we got alot of elderly people men and women so it's not weird to me just normal...
i dont mind thats like asking if its weird for older women to play baseball
i think its kind of weird.... no offense to any of you that apply to this question!

What is the proper amount to tip at the nail salon for a fill, pedicure and/or eyebrow waxing?

I never know what to tip or if I'm over tipping or under. I like to give people what they deserve when I'm pleased with the work. What is the proper amount to tip at the nail salon for a fill, pedicure and/or eyebrow waxing?
I think 10%-15% is expected.... but if it is a really good job I would tip 20%

Probably just follow the same rules you would for eating out. :-)What is the proper amount to tip at the nail salon for a fill, pedicure and/or eyebrow waxing?
It's about 20% of the total bill, like in a restaurant, I think.
I don't think there is any such thing as over tipping. They work really hard, and most people don't tip in salons. They just assume that they get paid enough and tipping is not necessary. Tipping is a courtesy, but it should be done. For nails, I always tip at least $5.00...if they do a lot of work, such as airbrush, then I tip more. For hair services, I tip $5.00...and for....actually, you know what...never tip less than $5.00...good rule of thumb. They will appreciate it and when you go back to them, they will remember, and sometimes they may even do a little extra out of the kindness of their heart because of what you did.

My husband and I went to a restaurant once and ordered a beer each. The bill was less than $6...he left a $10...the waitress looked like she was going to fall over. Which tells me that people don't generally tip well. Imagine what it feels like to work really really hard and then someone leaves you a dollar. Put yourself in their place--that way you will never leave too little. Think of what you would appreciate if you were doing the servicing.
A proper tip is 15% of the price, but for all of those non-Mathmaticians out there I would just count on about $1-3. depending on how good of a job they did.
My girlfriends gets good service and tips 20% of the total, every time. Consequently, she always gets the same girl to do her nails and gets a quality job done every time.

    Hope this helps!
If the procedures were done well and the person performing the service was friendly, I tip 30%. However, if the person was rude--i.e. answered cell phone in middle of service, demanded to know what color I want, etc.--I tip 15%.
i just always say, start at 2 dollars. depending on friendliness, how it looks, the price you pay for the service, and if they give you a freebie(if there really nice and wax the extra little area on your lip, just an exaple) for free, than you just add a sufficient amount. if they are bad, just take away a dollar. dont be afraid not to tip, its okay.
With tipping, I usually begin at 15% for so so service and work my way up. If you have been spectacular, you may get as much as 50%.

Now, the way I see it is this: If you are going to be a regular customer you should want to be served by the same person each time, this way you can build a sort of relationship. They know what you want, and how you expect it. And eventually you will probably get little freebies out of the deal. If you tip well, that waitress/hairdresser/nail tech is going to make sure they give you the best possible service every time they see you.

Also, you have to consider than in a salon, 2.00 wouldn't begin to cover the minimum 15% tip. Most services in a salon cost far more than 15.00. At a 15.00 bill, 15% would be 2.25. What do you have done in a salon for 15.00 other than waxing your eyebrows? My hair stylist always gets a min. of $20.00 from me. She's awesome, she always knows just how I want my hair and provides AWESOME service.

These people really don't make a lot of money without tips. And so many people out there are far too stingy when it comes to tipping. Imagine working for 1/2 minimum wage (which is what most waitresses/waiters make), and having to depend on tips - giving great service, and only getting tipped 10% of a 25.00 meal....
A pedicure is about 20-30 dollars, a fill is about 5-15 dollars, and a eyebrow waxing is about 5-10 dollars so together I would say 10-15 and if you really love their service then pay extra. Under tipping is paying 2 or 3 dollars. Over tipping is more than you would pay for a pedicure.

    Hope this helps,

    鈾?Vy
I tip 15%, but remember if it is the owner of the salon that is doing the service, you don't have to tip them.
